Social Work Admission requirements At UWC

Applicants who matriculated before 2008

a) The National Senior Certificate for Bachelor’s Degree study plus a score of no less than 30 points calculated according to the University’s approved points system, as well as the following specific subject requirements:

  • Level 4 (50-59%) in English (Home Language) or
  • Level 5 (60-69%) in English (First Additional Language)
  • Level 4 (50-59%) in Another Language (Home or First Additional Language) and
  • Level 3 (40-49) in Mathematics or 
  • Level 4 (50-59%) in Mathematical Literacy 

b) Students will be required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT)

                                          OR

c)  A qualification or level of competence which the Senate of the University has deemed to be equivalent to the requirements stipuilated in (a) and (b) above

Applicants who matriculated before 2008:

a) A Matriculation Exemption with the minimum of a D aggregate and the minimum of a D aggregate symbol for English

b) Students will be required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT)

                                          OR

c) A qualification or level of competence which the Senate of the University has deemed to be equivalent to the requirements stipuilated in (a) and (b) above

Management Development Programme

Admission is open to individuals with relevant working experience and with matric. Should you not have matric and wish to apply, you need to follow the RPL process.

A candidate requires:

• Matriculation certificate PLUS at least five years appropriate full-time work experience as proven by one or multiple letters of confirming employment; or
• University Degree or National Diploma in any field; or
• Applicants who have not passed matric may enter the MDP by complying with the University’s Recognition of Prior Learning process and presenting a completed RPL. Contact the School or the Division for Lifelong Learning (DLL) for further details.

Senior Management Development Programme

Admission is open to individuals that have completed an MDP.

Registration Date

The management development programmes offered by the University of the Western Cape provides maximum flexibility through multiple start dates every year as per the table below. Apply now for the next start date. 

You enquiry, application, registration and admission as well as payment need to be received 2 weeks prior to the start date to qualify to start. 
The University will contact you to confirm your admission. You may be accepted for a future start date if your documentation is not complete and subject to availability for the programme.
