UCT Online Application For Admission 2021

we have provided all you need to apply to the University of Cape Town (UCT) for 2021 academic year below;

Applications for undergraduate admission in 2021 are closed. Unfortunately, we cannot consider late applications.

Applicants who need financial assistance must submit their applications on the NSFAS online application system. Applications are open and are scheduled to close on 30 November 2020. Applications must be completed at http://www.nsfas.org.za/content/how-to-apply.html.

POSTGRADUATE APPLICANTS

Most postgraduate programmes containing coursework close on 31 October, with the exception of a few programmes and faculties which start to close from May onward. Please refer to the 2020 Directions for Postgraduate Applicants or the 2021 Directions for Postgraduate Applicants for the closing dates applicable to you.

Applications for research-only postgraduate programmes do not close. Please select the year in which you wish to start your programme when applying.

SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD (SSA) APPLICANTS

The SSA programme is offered to international students who are pursuing a degree elsewhere and plan to study abroad at UCT for a semester or two for the purposes of international credit mobility. Upon completion of the UCT semester course-load, the credits can be transferred to their degree at their home university. SSA credits do not count toward a UCT qualification.

SSA application cycle:

First semester (which runs from late January to mid-June): applications open in the first week of August and close on 31 October of the preceding year.

Second semester (which runs from early July to late November): applications open in the second week of January and close on 30 April of the same year.

Key Dates To Remember

1 April 2020

  • Applications for admission in 2021 will open. Applications will close on 31 July 2020 for all undergraduate programmes. Please remember to apply online.
  • The National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) will open for registrations for the 2021 intake. You must apply online.

4 April 2020

  • Open Day is a good opportunity to access important information about the application process. (It’s also a good time for younger siblings to start thinking about UCT opportunities!)
    Please note: Following international advice on the hosting of large gatherings, we have taken the precautionary measure to cancel the 2020 Open Day, which was due to be held on Saturday, 4 April 2020. We apologise for any inconvenience.

1 August 2020

  • National Student Funding Assistance Scheme (NSFAS) funding applications open. You must apply online.

31 August 2020

  • All undergraduate applications close. We do not accept late applications.
  • Applications for student housing close.

30 September 2020

  • Closing date for undergraduate programme changes: 30 September 2020.

  • Final date to submit the Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) portfolio.

31 October 2020

  • For applicants finishing secondary school in 2020, all grade 12 interim results, or predicted scores in the case of non-NSC candidates, are due.
  • Interim and past transcripts for transferring applicants are due.

30 November 2020

  • Last date to apply for National Student Funding Assistance Scheme (NSFAS) funding. You must apply online.

31 December 2020

  • All final transcripts and non-NSC school-leaving results (except CIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC) must be submitted as certified paper documents.

15 January 2021

  • Final tertiary transcripts are due for students registered for tertiary studies in 2020.
  • Final CAIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC results from the November 2020 session are due.

How do I apply online for UCT 2021?

Things to note before applying online to UCT:

  1. You’ll need an email address to complete the application.
  2. South African applicants will need an ID number.  Foreign applicants will need their passport number.
  3. You will need to have registered for the NBTs before applying online.
  4. You will need to pay an application fee.
  5. Need accommodation?  Make sure you mark this on your application form.
  6. Remember to check faculty-specific requirements before applying.
  7. Please note: Postgraduate applicants can only apply online.

You will be able to indicate whether you would like student accommodation on your application form.  Please note that applying for student housing is part of your application process.  Student housing places are limited so UCT has a criterion for allocating these places.

Is UCT still open for applications?

Is UCT online application free?

South African and SADC applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of R100. Other international applicants are required to pay an application fee of R300. Application fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Paying your application fee does not mean you will be offered a place to study at UCT. Currently registered UCT students and UCT graduates do not pay an application fee, unless applying for admission to a programme offered by the Graduate School of Business

What do you need to apply at UCT?

You may apply online. In order to apply online you will need a working email address and your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number.

How do I pay my UCT application fee?

The application fee may be paid by cash, credit card, direct bank deposit or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Cash payments must be made at the Cashiers Office, Kramer Building, Middle Campus, UCT. Credit card payments must be made online.

How do I change my application at UCT?

You may change one or both choices on or before 31 August 2020 by writing to the Admissions Office (email to: admissions-ug@uct.ac.za). For applicants currently at school: If you are currently at school, you must include all of your latest results with your application.

What are the requirements for medicine at UCT?

Minimum subject requirements and performance levels to be considered for admission: MBChB: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, as well as English (Home or First Additional Language) at 60% or above; and at least 50% for the next three best subjects excluding Life Orientation. NBT results in the Intermediate range. APS of 450.

How is UCT APS calculated?

To calculate your APS, add the six best subject percentages, excluding Life Orientation and scores for “Advanced Programme” (AP) subjects, but including English and any other required subject(s) for the relevant programme.
